Since your wedding pictures will capture one of the most significant events of your life, it's easy to see why your photographer is an important part of the day. After you've returned home, opened your gifts and paid all the bills, the most meaningful items that remain will be your wedding photos. They'll provide vivid memories of your wedding day for the rest of your life, and perhaps longer. Even smaller weddings should include basic coverage from a local professional photographer to guarantee priceless keepsakes for you and future generations. The Island's various seasons and scenic imagery can only be captured by someone familiar with the Island and properly equipped to capture the day.
You should hire a photographer who knows that some trendy photo styles are popular now, but won't hold up for a lifetime. Be sure to look ask around for photographers' references. A really fancy website is easy to produce but doesn't necessarily mean they have experience, misleading someone to believe they are hiring an experienced professional. Relying on a friend with a digital camera is also a bad idea since they're not going to be able to capture the mood, retouch the images, archive, share, print or deliver your wedding pictures like a true professional. Friends and family members can take photos too, but many times the results are disappointing.
"Our photographers not only have plenty of photo experience, but we're also in the relationship business. We are proactive and know how to be in the right place, ready to capture the emotions, the excitement and the love that flows between people at every wedding. Our photographers are always looking, watching, following and moving to capture those perfect pictures. Priceless photos that matter today, and 50 years from now," says Christi Dupre of Island Photo.
At the end of the wedding, the photographers's job is just beginning. Capturing the images is only the first step. A good photographer will spend even more time on the computer in the "post-production" phase, sorting, analyzing, color correcting and enhancing your photos. It is an essential part of a photographer's job.
Post production, using up to date photo editing software, makes your images absolutely perfect, says Jeffrey Dupre of Island Photo. "An amateur photographer or family friend rarely has the skill to improve the images. We spend hours digitally perfecting every single image," explains Jeff.
Black and white continues to be a popular addition to the wedding photo collection. Wedding photography is all about emotion, and the simplicity of black and white conveys a simple, classic and romantic image. "When you look at a black and white photograph you tend to see a mood more so than the actual subjects in the picture," says Kate Dupre, photographer for Island Photo. "Black and white can bring out fervent emotions to a scene or pose that sometimes gets lost using color."
Carriage Rides
Since a romantic carriage ride is what makes your Mackinac wedding unique, be sure to have these cherished moments photographed. "Riding around the Island in a beautiful wedding carriage is a memorable event best captured by a photographer with experience on the Island," says Jeffrey Dupre. Our photographers follow the bridal carriage on bicycles allowing us the flexibility and mobility to capture the most unique moments of your wedding, being in the right place for perfect pictures and stopping at the best locations for beautiful candid and classic portraits."
Good communication with your photographer is really important. When making the initial contact consider personality, experience, and price. Your photographer should be able to relate to you and fulfill your needs. Your photographer should be helpful in suggesting ideas without being overly agreeable to impossible requests. They should be able to offer a variety of photo package that fits your wedding budget. Weddings take place on many weekdays and every Saturday from May until the end of October. Be sure to reserve your photographer at least six months in advance so you get your first choice of professionals.
